Flood Watch issued March 28 at 7:28AM EDT until March 29 at 6:00AM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut, including the following area, Windham CT, Massachusetts, including the following areas, Barnstable MA, Central Middlesex MA, Dukes MA, Eastern Essex MA, Eastern Norfolk MA, Eastern Plymouth MA, Nantucket MA, Northern Bristol MA, Northern Middlesex MA, Northern Worcester MA, Southeast Middlesex MA, Southern Bristol MA, Southern Plymouth MA, Southern Worcester MA, Suffolk MA, Western Essex MA, Western Norfolk MA and Western Plymouth MA, and Rhode Island, including the following areas, Bristol RI, Eastern Kent RI, Newport RI, Northwest Providence RI, Southeast Providence RI, Washington RI and Western Kent RI. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rainfall this past weekend has left the ground saturated. Flood Warning issued March 28 at 1:08PM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Connecticut...Rhode Island...Massachusetts... Pawcatuck River At Westerly affecting New London and Washington Counties. Taunton River Near Bridgewater affecting Plymouth and Bristol Counties. For the Pawcatuck River...including Westerly...Minor flooding is forecast. For the Taunton River...including Bridgewater...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Taunton River near Bridgewater. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Minor lowland and backyard flooding is likely along reaches of the river along Bridgewater and Middleboro. Backwater flooding from the Taunton River will cause prolonged flooding of lower Purchade Brook in Middleboro. This will cause Woloski Park to become impassable by vehicles for days. Beware of the dangers of crossing flooded roadways- the water may be deeper than you think. Floodwaters have the ability to damage roadways. Heed the advice of local officials, and evacuate if asked to do so. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:45 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 7.3 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight and continue rising to a crest of 10.1 feet early Saturday afternoon. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
