Flood Watch issued May 17 at 7:27PM CDT until May 18 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Mobile AL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Alabama, including the following areas, Baldwin Central, Baldwin Coastal, Baldwin Inland, Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia, Mobile Central, Mobile Coastal, Mobile Inland, Monroe, Washington and Wilcox, northwest Florida, including the following areas, Escambia Coastal, Escambia Inland, Okaloosa Coastal, Okaloosa Inland, Santa Rosa Coastal and Santa Rosa Inland, and southeast Mississippi, including the following areas, George, Greene, Perry, Stone and Wayne. * WHEN...Through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall are expected to pass across the area through early Saturday afternoon. Widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches are expected, with localized totals above 6 inches possible. Special Weather Statement issued May 18 at 2:43AM CDT by NWS Mobile AL At 242 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 5 miles southwest of Wagarville to 3 miles southwest of McIntosh to 8 miles northwest of Gulfcrest. Movement was east at 55 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Monroeville, Jackson, Citronelle, Frisco City, Peterman, Wagarville, Leroy, Uriah, Mount Vernon, Calvert, Excel, and McIntosh. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
