Hydrologic Outlook issued June 25 at 1:40PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK ESFAFG ...Locations Impacted... White Mountains, Fairbanks, Chatanika and Chena Basins, Parks Hwy corridor from Fairbanks to Healy, Denali National Park A long-duration period of moderate rain is anticipated to start on Saturday evening and continue through Monday. This could impact a large portion of the Interior with a particular focus near Denali National Park. Return intervals indicate this as a 1 in 5 year to a 1 in 10 year event. We are continuing to monitor and will provide updates on the evolution of this system. Red Flag Warning issued June 26 at 9:07AM AKDT until June 27 at 3:00AM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from 1 PM Friday afternoon to 3 AM AKDT Saturday. * AFFECTED AREA...Lower Yukon River, Middle Yukon Valley, Lower Yukon and Innoko Valleys and Upper Kuskokwim Valley. * TIMING...From 1 PM Friday afternoon to 3 AM AKDT Saturday. * THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Numerous * WINDS...Northwest 8 to 15 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 35 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the mid 70s to near 80. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to numerous thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent lightning. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels are dry and burnable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Most of the numerous thunderstorm activity will move out of the region by 3 AM Saturday morning. If we notice the thunderstorm risk is ending earlier or later, we will update as necessary. A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to the public. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.
