Heat Advisory issued July 11 at 2:49AM CDT until July 11 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Little Rock AR * WHAT...Heat index values up to 108. * WHERE...Portions of central and western Arkansas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Movement was south at 15 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Little Rock... North Little Rock... Conway... Sherwood... Jacksonville... Cabot... West Little Rock... Maumelle... Downtown Little Rock... Lonoke... Brinkley... Des Arc... Clarendon... Hazen... De Valls Bluff... North Little Rock Airport... Little Rock AFB... Southwest Little Rock... Beebe... Ward... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
