Heat Advisory issued July 11 at 12:32PM CDT until July 11 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN * WHAT...Heat index values up to 109. * WHERE...In Arkansas, Lee AR, Phillips, and St. Francis Counties. In Mississippi, Coahoma, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Flood Advisory issued July 11 at 6:17PM CDT until July 11 at 9:30PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of East Arkansas, including the following counties, Crittenden, Lee and St. Francis. * WHEN...Until 930 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 617 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... West Memphis, Forrest City, Marion, Hughes, Madison, Palestine, Memphis, Caldwell, Edmondson, Colt, Horseshoe Lake, Widener, Anthonyville, Jennette, New Home, Simsboro, Pinckney, Crittenden, Whitmore and Blackfish. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
