Heat Advisory issued June 29 at 12:54AM EDT until June 29 at 7:00PM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL * WHAT...Heat index values up to 109 expected. * WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Inland Northern Brevard, Inland Volusia, Mainland Northern Brevard, Northern Brevard Barrier Islands, Northern Lake, Orange, Seminole, and Southern Lake. * WHEN...From noon today to 7 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued June 29 at 5:54PM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL At 554 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Groveland to near Clermont to near Bay Lake. These storms were nearly stationary. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Orlando, Ocoee, Winter Garden, Groveland, and Mascotte. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Seek safe shelter inside a sturdy building or hard-topped vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike beyond 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. When thunder roars, go indoors!

Locations impacted include... Groveland, Mascotte, Howey-In-the-hills, Ferndale, and Clermont. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Seek safe shelter inside a sturdy building or hard-topped vehicle.
