Special Weather Statement issued July 27 at 1:41AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL Light winds and very humid conditions have resulted in areas of fog across portions of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. The fog could become locally dense at times with visibilities down to a quarter mile, especially in low-lying locations. Expect conditions to quickly improve by the mid morning hours. Motorists should exercise caution as visibilities may change suddenly over short distances. Use low beam headlights and leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle ahead.

For the Extreme Heat Warning, a dangerous combination of oppressively hot and humid conditions with heat index values between 105 to 115 expected. * WHERE...In Illinois, Bureau, Putnam, Carroll, Henry IL, Jo Daviess, Stephenson, and Whiteside Counties. In Iowa, Clinton, Jackson, and Dubuque Counties. * WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 8 AM CDT this morning. For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 10 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles.
