Special Weather Statement issued May 7 at 5:49PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA As showers continue to develop and move across the area, brief gusty winds up to and in excess of 40 mph may be experienced. These are being driven by evaporative cooling as rain falls through very dry air below it. These wind gusts are likely to continue until shower activity begins to subside later this evening.
