Flood Advisory issued July 27 at 11:02PM EDT until July 28 at 2:15AM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northern Michigan, including the following counties, Crawford, Ogemaw, Oscoda and Roscommon. * WHEN...Until 215 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1102 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Houghton Lake, West Branch, Roscommon, St. Helen, Prudenville, Rose City, Clear Lake, Twin Lakes Area, Lake St. Helen, Rose Township, Selkirk, Nester Township, Lupton, Skidway Lake, Rifle River State Park, South Higgins Lake, Roscommon County Airport, Higgins Lake, North Higgins Lake and Prescott. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
