Coastal Flood Advisory issued July 11 at 4:16AM EDT until July 11 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ * WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Atlantic Coastal Cape May and Coastal Atlantic. * WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 11 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor tidal flooding is expected to continue for the evening high tides on Sunday and potentially Monday as well. Further Coastal Flood Advisories may be needed. A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood. Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs. Marine Weather Statement issued July 11 at 1:11PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ The areas affected include... Coastal waters from Great Egg Inlet to Cape May NJ out 20 NM... Coastal waters from Little Egg Inlet to Great Egg Inlet NJ out 20 NM... Coastal waters from Manasquan Inlet to Little Egg Inlet NJ out 20 NM... At 110 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated an area of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 12 nm northwest of Beach Haven to near Buoy Ge, moving southeast at 10 knots. Locations impacted include... Beach Haven, Atlantic City, Little Egg Reef, Atlantic City Reef, Little Egg Inlet, Buoy Ge, Great Egg Inlet, Brigantine, Great Egg Reef, Ocean City Reef, and North Beach Haven. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
