Flood Watch issued July 17 at 12:08PM MDT until July 17 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of west central New Mexico, including the following areas, West Central Mountains and West Central Plateau. * WHEN...Until 9 PM MDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving storms are expected to develop over the area this afternoon into the evening. Heavy rainfall from storms on Thursday left up to 1.5 inches of rainfall across the area. This will make locations more susceptible to flooding, especially near Gallup and Zuni Pueblo. Additional amounts up to 1 to 2 inches are possible through today. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Central McKinley County in west central New Mexico... * Until 400 PM MDT. * At 113 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen along parts of Interstate 40, State Road 371, and State Road 612. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Thoreau and Coolidge. This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 40 and 59. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.
