Flood Watch issued July 12 at 11:51PM EDT until July 13 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the following counties, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin. * WHEN...Through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving showers with embedded thunderstorms will be possible into Monday. Rainfall rates of 1 to 4 inches will be possible in the heavier downpours. Central Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina... * Until 315 AM EDT. * At 1211 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain from slow moving showers across the warned area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Wilkesboro... Wilbar... Mc Grady... Millers Creek... Halls Mills... Buck... Mulberry... This includes the following streams and drainages... Middle Fork Reddies River, Cane Creek, Church Branch, Gambill Creek, Little Fork Creek, Clear Branch, Bee Tree Branch, North Fork Reddies River, Mulberry Creek, Darnell Creek and Fish Dam Creek.
