Beach Hazards Statement issued July 18 at 3:48PM EDT until July 19 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH * WHAT...High risk of rip currents expected. * WHERE...Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula Lakeshore Counties. * WHEN...From 10 AM EDT this morning through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Wind and wave action will cause currents on the lakeshore. Swimmers should not enter the water. Currents can carry swimmers away from shore through a sand bar and along structures extending out into the lake. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

Air Quality Alert issued July 18 at 9:00PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH An Air Quality Advisory for ground level fine particles has been issued by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit Counties. The advisory is from midnight tonight to midnight Sunday night. Air quality levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups during this period. If you are in the sensitive groups category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, please monitor your outdoor activity and check air quality readings at airnow.gov. Additionally, sign-up at enviroflash.info for text alerts regarding air quality. Flood Advisory issued July 18 at 7:22PM EDT until July 18 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Ohio, including the following counties, in north central Ohio, Lorain. In northeast Ohio, Cuyahoga. * WHEN...Until 1000 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 722 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Cleveland, Lorain, Elyria, Vermilion, Parma, Strongsville, Westlake, North Royalton, North Ridgeville, Avon Lake, Amherst, North Olmsted, Avon, Parma Heights, Rocky River, Brook Park, Berea, Fairview Park, Middleburg Heights and Bay Village. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information.
